Seasonal Task 1: Of Masks and Masques

Eligible characters: Current and Generation 1 senshi, Rifters
The theme is anything to do with either masks (e.g. Halloween masks,  super hero masks) or masquerade balls. This can be as your character is now or in their past! Feel free to even show your Gen 1 or Rifter on their home world.


This takes place on Jia's home planet of Gogi, when Jia was 16, so two years before her summoning to the Sol system.


    It was early autumn, and in this region of Gogi, that meant a glorious burst of pleasant weather and color before the rainy season would begin. The festival of the Sea King was in full swing, and the there was a ritual event that evening. The entire royal family would be gathered, each wearing a mask representing a god, goddess, or other major entity in the tales of the Sea King who protected them. Jia was late for the formal photos, having lost track of time in the library. After receiving a scolding from her ladies who dressed her quickly but well, she grabbed her mask and hurried to meet with her sisters. Half way there, her beloved imp of a sister Bo Lin ran up along side her, hastily rearranging her skirts and hair. Jia noticed the door she came from quietly closing as if pulled shut by someone who didn't want to be noticed, as well as her sister's flushed skin and satisfied smile. Bo was always on the move and enjoying herself, to the point that Jia found herself in awe of her sister's audacity, and maybe a little jealous too. However, right now she was just glad she wasn't the last one.
    Jia and Bo arrived at the chamber where their other sisters, the beautiful but haughty Li and the sweet and warm Jae, were waiting. Jae chuckled a little at her youngest sisters, and carefully arranged both their hair back into perfect form and even pinching her own cheeks to cause them to flush, making Bo's less noticeable. They arranged themselves into a row, and waited for the photographer to take several portraits of them together, before they were led into the chamber where their parents, brothers, and other royal family members gathered. Donning their masks, there were more photos and a prayer to the Sea King before moving in to the great hall and into the masked celebration. Behind her scaled mask, Jia plastered on a perfect smile, falling into her familiar role as the perfect daughter and representative of the royal family.




Who are the sisters? Left to right:

Li Jun Eldest daughter, second child. Li is dangerously sharp-witted and a schemer to the core. She enjoys wielding what power comes to her, and he tirelessly plots on how to get more. She managed to avoid marriage to a prince on purpose, executing plans to marry a very wealthy and influential Duke instead, thus maintaining her place in the Royal succession as third after the King and the eldest Prince. She is exactly how charming she wishes to be, and many have no idea what kind of ruthless ambition she hides. After Jia is summoned away, and their father passes away, Li and her husband make an attempt at an assassination coup against her brother, the new King. She fails, and is held political prisoner. Li uses bladed fans and several forms of martial arts in her training.
Jia-Mun Youngest child. Due to her high intelligence and lowest standing in the royal (legitimate) succession, she was raised as a diplomat, scholar, and tactician in order to make greatest use of her. Jia was under the watchful eye of both her paternal and maternal grandmothers, ensuring a "proper" upbringing. She was also trained in hand to hand, stave weapons, and once she was discovered to be Dorado, she trained using her cannon. She is the strongest fighter out of all the royal siblings, and she was working as royal general in the army by 16. She gets along with all her siblings except the manipulative Li. After becoming Dorado, she was matched with Riyan, the eldest son of one of the most influential families in the kingdom. While initially not a compatible match, they did fall in love. A month before her wedding, Jia was summoned to the Sol system, forever separated from her family, her kingdom, and her fiance.
Bo Lin Second youngest child, third daughter. Bo is the wild child of the group, often in trouble and talking back to her handlers. She's also Jia's favorite sister (though Jia adores Jae as well), as she's always telling her of what trouble she got into/ what fun she had that day. Bo has the ability to slip away from her handmaids, and is not yet married. She does however have a lover she's been sneaking out to meet. While their mother would never admit it, she looks and acts the most like the Queen when she was younger. She and Jia are sparing partners, Bo being skilled with short swords and throwing daggers.
  Jae-Kim Second Eldest daughter, third child. Jae is the sweetest, mildest, and most motherly of the siblings, always taking care of her sisters and brothers and dutifully behaving as her elders instruct. She married another nation's minor prince, and often travels back and forth between the capital cities. She's well loved by the people of both kingdoms, and only grows in popularity as she gets older. She and her husband had several children. Jae was never very interested in combat, but was taught defensive hand to hand and can use a staff.
